History of Raymond Gabaldon

As one of the oldest school sites in the district, Raymond Gabaldon Elementary has a rich history here in Los Lunas.

Raymond Gabaldon Elementary:

Raymond Gabaldon Elementary currently sits on 9.87 acres of land and consists of 5 main buildings and eight portables. The original building for Raymond Gabaldon Elementary was built in 1938 with the use of Federal Works Progress Administration funds. It was in November of 1982 that the school was officially named Raymond Gabaldon Central School. This was a resolution passed to honor Mr. Raymond Gabaldon.

Who is Raymond Gabaldon?

Mr. Gabaldon served honorably in the United States Armed forces. He also taught in Los Lunas schools, served as a principal, assistant Superintendent, and finally Superintendent until he resigned  in March of 1975.

Through the years Raymond Gabaldon has faithfully served the Los Lunas community starting as a school for kindergarten through 8th grade. It has served as an elementary school, intermediate school and currently serves Pre-K through 6th grade.
